Socket Preservation

Tooth loss can cause an indentation in the gums and jawbone where the tooth used to be. This happens because the jawbone recedes when it no longer is holding a tooth in place. Not only is this indention unnatural looking, it also causes the replacement tooth to look too long compared to the adjacent teeth. Ridge augmentation can fill in this defect recapturing the natural contour of the gums and jaw. A new tooth can then be created that is natural looking, easy to clean and beautiful.

From our Cases

Case 1

Case 1: A 48 years old patient was referred to our clinic by his prostodontic for a severe and associated enododontic and periodontic lesion on tooth # 15. The tooth must be extracted and a meticulous curettage of the lesion is done. A xenograft like Bio-Oss is placed and the whole is covered by a collagen membrane. A period of 5 months is a must to be able to place two dental implants. Surgery done by Dr Walid El-Kattar

Case 2

Case 2: A 55 years old patient was referred to our clinic to treat an endodontic lesion with pus fistula on tooth # 16. The patient confirms that he has already endodontically treated this tooth two times, without obtaining the desired outcome..Extraction of the tooth is the better choice, and curettage of the socket, and placing a xenograft material Gen Mix* and use of a resorbable membrane collagen Gen Derm*. A healing period of 5 months is required to be able to place a dental implant. Surgery done by Dr Walid El-Kattar

Case 3

Case 3: A 68 years old bruxer patient came to ProSmile Clinic with a fracture of his two maxillary central incisors. After an atraumatic extraction of these two central incisors, curettage and cleaning the sockets, insuring that the vestibular alveolar tablet is intact, a non resorbable xenograft like Bio-Oss is placed to prevent the total collapse of the alveole after extraction. Surgery done by Dr Walid El-Kattar

Case 4

Case 4: This 56 old female has fractured her lateral right maxillary incisor due to tooth decay. As the patient could not afford the cost of a dental implant, a socket preservation is indicated to maintain the bone volume after extraction. The case is completed by inserting a connective tissue under the remaining vestibular tissue, to increase the width and the volume of the soft tissue. A ceramo-metalic bridge is proposed as a prosthetic solution at the end. Surgery done by Dr Walid El-Kattar
